I’m Rebekha, the latest student placement at Approach PR. Swapping Netflix marathons and student nightlife for office days and early starts, I joined Approach for my sandwich year. My love of Yorkshire and all things social media made Approach towers the perfect new home for me.

I decided to take a year out of university life to enter the real world of PR as part of my degree BA (Hons) Public Relations and Communication at Leeds Beckett University. I was told I would learn more in my placement year than I could ever learn in my three other years of study. I can already tell this is true; it is an invaluable opportunity and will hopefully stand me in great stead for a successful future.

Approach PR is supporting practitioners of the future and helping me develop my expertise and skills ready for a promising career. The role includes client support with activities such as social media, copywriting and media relations and has already increased my confidence in what I can do. I’m looking forward to seeing what I will achieve during my time here!
The move from the lecture hall to the office desk was a huge change. The early mornings, the responsibilities and the increased caffeine intake were just a few things that occurred in my transition from student, to junior account executive. Free periods, late starts and early finishes are no more and 9am-5pm working days, quickly and more easily than I thought, have become my routine.

I am delighted with my placement here at Approach and can already see the progress I am making. I may miss my lie ins but as a Daily Mail app addict I can think of no better way than to kick start the day, bright and early, catching up on the latest news!
