British student in Paris sandwich finals
A British bakery student has competed as the youngest contestant in Délifrance’s 9th Sandwich World Cup this week.
British Baker accompanied 18-year-old Emily Smith of Brookland’s College in Weybridge to the annual competition on Tuesday (14 February), which was hosted at the Paris School of Bakery and Pastry. Smith created the British Diamond – a peppered beef sandwich with kale, bitter greens and a caper and gherkin mayonnaise – in front of a renowned panel of industry judges, including French chef and television personality Pierre Sang Boyer.

This year’s Apprentice contestant Ellie Reed came head-to-head with former contestant Claire Young in a fierce Apprentice-style window dressing challenge in Bradford for a Be Involved Challenge. The BBC stars joined us at Marie Curie Cancer Care on Darley Street helping raise the days intake by 150% - a figure Lord Sugar would be proud of.

Guinness World Records has announced that Reverend Ray Biddiss from Halifax, West Yorkshire, has successfully created a record for the ‘Fastest Motorcycle Hearse’ after reaching 114.1 mph on his Triumph Rocket III motorcycle hearse at Elvington Airfield on Tuesday May 10 2011.
