After completing a seven-week programme to heighten her confidence and enhance her leadership skills, our account executive Rebekha discusses the importance of professional development.

Having a clear and directional approach to moving forward with individual development is an essential part to progressing with your role – giving you the tools and abilities to take the next step up in your career.

Marking a year since graduation, I’ve recently completed the next stage in my personal development plan by accomplishing the Leadership and Personal Excellence Programme delivered by the Performance Development Group (PDG). The programme covered a wide range of topics and activities, a great boost for confidence and self-belief!

Continuing professional development is important because it enables you to stay on top of your game, keep up with the latest industry developments, expand your depth of knowledge and gives you a boost in personal motivation and drive. Well planned, relevant training offers benefits to the individual, the business and its customers/clients and is something our MD Suzanne truly believes in.”

At Approach we’re committed to supporting each other’s visions and goals. Here are our top three ways to create a plan of action for your professional development…

Be ambitious when setting your career goals. Where would you like to see yourself in 12 months’ time? Write it down, pin it up and plan your route there.

  1. Enlist the support of your team

Share your vision with your team, ask for their support. Discuss your development path with your manager, explain where you want to be and how they can help you get there.

  1. Utilise the services out there
