Greggs
Greggs bakery has successfully managed to stand out on social media with their witty comments and unique customer responses.
Their Valentine’s Day campaign offering customers a ‘posh’ meal for 2 in their stores gained national media coverage and thousands of retweets. This classic twist on a fine dining date catered to the younger Greggs audience and the events even managed to get a live proposal.
Gordon’s Gin
Gin and train delays are two of our most loved and most hated things in this office (guess which is which?).
Gordon’s Gin cleverly put these two together to help relieve the stress of delayed trains. People travelling through London Waterloo station during peak time could tweet #YayDelay and ask for a free gin – an algorithm then worked out if they were telling the truth and issued them with a complimentary drink voucher. Fun!
KFC
KFC suffered from a supplier failure earlier this year and ran out of chicken * gasps *. Some PR professionals thought this was a very well thought out stunt but as the chickenless days went on, it seemed that there really was a problem.
Nevertheless, KFC handled the issue in a way that was fun and kept them in a positive light with the public. Their signs saying “The chicken crossed the road… just not to our restaurants” appealed to the modern way of brand interaction, keeping it light and fun for their social media followers, while also keeping customers fully updated.
Heinz Beans x Cath Kidston
While yet to be launched, the first redesign of the famous Heinz cans has been picked up across the media. For the first time in 100 years, Heinz have changed the design and what better brand to choose to design them than quintessentially British brand, Cath Kidston?
Although the unique cans will cost £10, 100% of proceeds will go to national foodbank charity, The Trussell Trust. This major change for Heinz, reintroduces them to current conversations and reminds people why they are the most popular beans brand.
