Whether you’re in Hunger Games heaven, greedy for Game of Thrones or tantalised by Twilight, on the 1st March we’re putting our pens away and entering the world of literature! World Book Day allows people all over the globe to recognise and celebrate their favourite authors and illustrators, show their love through fancy dress and take the time out to enjoy the latest release. But which book is your favourite?
Hi! I’m Betty and I’m currently on university placement at Approach – here are my top three reads.
Harry Potter
There’s no denying it, most people will have read this seven book saga. Following the trials and tribulations of three young students in the wizarding world, this page turner has everything you could ask for including fantasy, fear and friendship – and a flying car!
Of Mice and Men
Tragedy, the American dream and companionship. Taught as part of the curriculum in most schools, this heart-rending novel reflects on the experiences of two displaced ranch workers searching for new opportunities in rural California. And we all know the twist, right? (No spoilers here)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Of course, how could we forget Roald Dahl? One of the most commemorated authors of all time, who wrote many undeniable classics; The BFG, Matilda, Fantastic Mr Fox and The Twits to name a few! Assisted by Quentin Blake, the book illustrations have inspired many kids’ fancy dress ideas for decades. My favourite, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, takes us into Willy Wonka’s tasty factory. With chocolate waterfalls to a three-course meal gum, what more could you want?
